Mining companies report their activities to authorities, financiers, parent companies, and owners. Because information from various sources, such as GRI reports, corporate level sustainability reports, and the national Vahti database, does not always reach all interested stakeholders, the purpose of the TSM standard is to provide detailed and transparent information about the mining industry.

Below is a compilation of numerical sustainability data from mining companies in Finland, collected since 2014. The sixty questions included in the reports offer a comprehensive overview of mining companies operating in Finland. The data covers topics such as workforce size and land use, corporate tax contributions, impacts on neighbouring land use, occupational safety, and collaboration with local stakeholders.
