FinnCobalt Oy is a junior mining and exploration company aiming to responsibly and traceably produce raw materials needed by the battery industry.
The company’s main project is the Hautalampi nickel, cobalt, and copper mineralization located in Outokumpu, where the plan is to develop an electrified underground mine along with a concentrator plant near the site. The goal is to produce nickel, cobalt, and copper concentrates in a carbon-neutral and waste-free manner.
In addition to the Hautalampi project, FinnCobalt Oy holds exploration areas in North Karelia. The company is part of Eurobattery Minerals AB, which is listed on the NGM Nordic SME and German Börse Stuttgart (EBM) stock exchanges.
FinnCobalt Oy conducts mineral exploration in the municipalities of Outokumpu, Savonlinna, and Polvijärvi. The exploration in these areas has utilized existing data, as well as boulder tracing and bedrock mapping, which have been supplemented with new geophysical surveys.
FinnCobalt has applied for exploration permits around the well-known Hietajärvi deposit in Savonlinna, as well as around the Saramäki deposit in Polvijärvi and the Riihilahti deposit in Outokumpu. In these areas, FinnCobalt is investigating copper, cobalt, and nickel deposits that are already known. The company does not conduct exploration in nature conservation areas.

Whenever external contractors are hired, we check whether we can utilize local expertise to carry out the work.
The company’s activities have not had a significant impact on recreational use of the exploration permit areas.
The exploration permit areas are not located within nationally or regionally valuable landscape areas. Furthermore, the company’s light exploration activities have not had a significant impact on nature.
Stakeholder engagement is an important part of transparent, reliable, and sustainable mineral exploration. When the company’s practices are made public, they must withstand external scrutiny. For this reason, FinnCobalt holds public events in villages and towns near its exploration areas and maintains regular communication with the landowners of its exploration permit areas.
In 2024, FinnCobalt joined in the EU-funded DeepBeat project. The purpose of the project is to discover new mineral exploration methods, and this research is being conducted on FinnCobalt’s Saramäki exploration permit area and its surroundings in the municipality of Polvijärvi.
